Building a Home Gym Around a Power Rack: A RitFit Buyer's Guide
A power rack, a bench and a barbell can replace a gym membership. Here is how to size the rack, read the weight ratings and build a setup in the right order, using RitFit's range as the example.

A home gym is easy to over-buy. The photos show racks, cable machines and a wall of plates, but most people need a barbell, a rack and a bench. RitFit sells all of that and more, and its range makes a useful example of how to think through the purchase.
This guide draws on RitFit's own company information and product pages and on general home-gym practice. It is not a hands-on test. Model numbers and specifications change, so check the current listing for anything you plan to buy.
About the brand
RitFit says its name combines "Right" and "Fitness". The company started in Delaware in 2015 with beginner-friendly products such as resistance bands, dumbbells, kettlebells and foldable benches. Its timeline, from its own About page, runs roughly like this:
- 2018: the PPC01, a 2x2 four-post squat rack.
- 2021: hip thrust and bicep benches, plus home gym packages.
- 2022: a cable crossover power rack, a Smith module attachment and a Smith training rack.
- 2023: a 3-in-1 leg press, hack squat and calf raise machine, plus commercial-level racks.
- 2024: the M1 multi-functional Smith machine and a leg extension curl machine.
- 2025: a first showroom announced in Chino Hills, California.
The company says it holds more than 30 patents and has more than 100,000 customers. Treat those as the brand's own figures.
Step 1: measure the room
Before you compare racks, measure:
- Ceiling height. A rack usually needs clearance above it for pull-ups and overhead presses. Measure the lowest point, including lights.
- Floor area. Allow space around the rack to load plates and to bail safely.
- Floor strength. A garage slab handles a loaded rack easily. An upstairs floor deserves more thought, and rubber flooring protects both.
Step 2: the rack
The core of a RitFit setup is a power cage. Listings describe one 1000 lb rated cage with 2x2 inch steel uprights, and bundles pair cages with benches, barbells and plates.
Be careful with weight ratings. One bundle is listed with a 1200 lb cage and another lists a different cage model with similar dimensions, so confirm the exact model number and what the rating covers. A static rating is not the same as a dynamic one, and the figure should be read together with the steel gauge and the hole spacing.
Useful features to look for:
- Safety spotter arms or straps that catch a failed lift.
- J-hooks that hold the bar securely and do not scrape it.
- Attachment support, such as a lat pulldown or a cable system, if you plan to expand.
Step 3: the bench
An adjustable bench makes the most of the rack. RitFit's lineup includes the GATOR adjustable bench, listed at a 1600 lb capacity, a 1300 lb adjustable bench and a foldable model. Pick for stability first: a wide base and little wobble at the flat position. Foldable benches save space but are rarely as rigid.

Step 4: barbell and plates
An Olympic barbell and a set of plates are the next purchase. Bumper plates let you drop a barbell safely from overhead, which matters if your floor or neighbours care. Dumbbells in PVC-coated round or rubber hex styles are a reasonable addition.

Where the value is
RitFit is generally described by reviewers as budget-friendly, and its products are often on sale. Prices on third-party marketplaces vary, so compare them with the official store. A package can be better value than separate parts, as long as every item is something you will use.
Current RitFit discounts
Heavy equipment is where a code saves real money. All active RitFit offers, with end dates, are on one page: see all RitFit coupons. The best two or three also appear in the deals box in this article. Penrift may earn a commission if you use them, as set out in our affiliate disclosure.
Bottom line
Start with the room, not the equipment. Pick a rack that fits and is rated clearly, add an adjustable bench, and you have most of a gym for less than a year or two of membership.
